Knights Knews – 3/15/20

This week at our monthly meeting Neil Jansen was our Knight of the month for February. Neil has been a knight for over 7 years for Council 14642. He has been a key member, and he flips a awesome flapjack. Neil and his wife Angie will be leaving Byron Center and heading to St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. We will miss you and your whole family. God bless you all! Come back and visit please. Neil, you’re a fine attorney. I will keep your number handy.

As I said last week, please remember to RSVP for the Tootsie Roll Drive April 3rd, 4th & 5th at Family Fare in Byron Center. I need to fill 15, 2-hour shifts starting Friday at 8:00 am. Please bring the kids. We need your help. You have my number. Pine Grove Learning Center needs us please.

Also we only have 1 more weekend to buy your St Patrick Party Tickets for March 21st. Please don’t make me drink all that green beer by myself. Vicky will probably leave me right in the Hall. Tickets are $20.00 per person and all proceeds will go to the Veterans Home in Wyoming. I promise the Alter Boys will rock the Youth Center. There will be plenty of wine and snacks as well. Thank you.

In my Bible readings this week in the Gospel of Luke Chapter 16 is the story of the poor man named Lazarus. Lazarus was all covered with sores and would have gladly eaten the scraps that fell off the rich man’s table. We probably have never been in a bad situation as Lazarus was. Could you imagine??? I have always tried to gift a little money to the beggars along the street corners. How LUCKY ARE WE??? Who do we know that is begging for our help??? Are we ready to help them??? Our scraps might be their riches. Ask God to forgive us for our inability to see those around us in need. Help us to care for each other with tenderness and kindness. I ask the whole St Sebastian Parish if you know of someone in need, please let me or any knight know. I promise it will be kept confidential. This is what we do! This is what we all should do. It’s easy to get caught up in our busy lives. Remember all the blessings that God gives us daily, including his Son that died so we could have ETERNAL LIFE. I love this Lenten season.
